Project: Hollywood Studio Campus
Rapid, on-site measurement data collection and file processing of 150,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor studio office space to support site due diligence and renovations
Project Background
The Hollywood studio campus was located on one city block containing five separate buildings and parking areas. One building was scheduled to be fully renovated, and the other remaining buildings required full due diligence reports generated. All of the parking areas and shared outdoor spaces also required due diligence reports generated and were being considered for renovation or re-use.
Problem
At the time of this project, access to the site was severely limited, making it very difficult for a full engineering team to be on-site. Also, the project schedule was condensed and the project site was large, creating a challenge for the engineering team to perform due diligence and create design level Revit models in such a small amount of time.
Approach
Our team performed rapid digital data capture and 360 video collection to help generate floor plans, site plans, and 5 separate design level (LOD 350) Revit models.
Benefits
With our team's approach to this project, the engineering team did not have to rely on possibly outdated and inaccurate floor plans provided by the customer. They did not need to create models, giving them more time to focus on the specialized work that brings the most value to the project. With access to the measurement data we rapidly collected on-site readily available whenever they needed it, their team did not need to revisit the site due to missed information.
The engineering team was able to make decisions quickly about measurement and square footage and make observations from floor to floor that helped expedite design decisions. Their team was able to rely on the measurement data we captured to feel confident in their decision making.
